Ben Singh, DVM

Dr. Ben Singh is a General Practitioner and owner of Aviara Animal Health Center since August of 2010. Originally from Colonia, New Jersey, Dr. Singh says that since he was a child he has had a fascination with animals and their care, which naturally led him to a career in the veterinary medical field. As a practicing veterinarian, he enjoys making a significant difference in the quality of an animal's life as well as educating owners on how to make a difference in their pets' lives.

For his undergraduate studies, Dr. Singh attended Kean University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology—Pre-Med in 1992 and earned distinction as a member of the Tri-Beta Biological Honor Society. During his time in college he also attended Yale School of Medicine for two summers for Medical Science Review. Following college, Dr. Singh earned certification in Chemical Engineering and attended a Master's program in Polymer Chemistry. He then worked in polymer research for a chemical company for seven years.

However, the desire to become engaged in the animal care field led him to enroll in St. George's University's School of Veterinary Medicine and then complete his clinical training at The University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2005, Dr. Singh received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He then performed an internship at the Animal Medical Center in San Diego, California in general surgery and medicine. Dr. Singh is accredited by the United States Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, or APHIS.

Dr. Singh's areas of special professional interest are soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and abdominal ultrasound. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the San Diego County Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Singh has lived in Carlsbad for six years. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and is active in his local community church.

At home, he has a boxer mix named Lili, Yorkshire terrier named Tyler, and a Chihuahua/terrier mix named Pearl. Dr. Singh's interests include hiking, gardening, and taking care of his koi pond, fruit trees and two indoor fish tanks.

Tracey Mendlen Herman, DVM

Dr. Tracey Mendlen Herman is a San Diego native and General Practitioner who has been with Aviara Animal Health Center since July of 2011.

Dr. Mendlen Herman has always had a love for animals, but did not focus on a career in companion animal medical care until college. "Originally, I was a Criminal Justice major in college," she says, "but then I saw a movie with the main message of do what you love, no regrets. The next morning I changed my major and entire life course."

She never looked back and now Dr. Mendlen Herman says she finds great satisfaction in getting to know our clients and their pets and being able to create preventative treatment plans that best meet that pet's and family's needs. She also says that after spending some time volunteering with Project Wildlife she has found a passion for working with injured wildlife.

Dr. Mendlen Herman attended the University of California at Davis for her undergraduate studies and received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a specialization in Companion and Captive Animals in 2004. During college, she routinely made Dean's List, received the American Society of Animal Science Scholastic Award, and graduated with honors.

In 2006, Dr. Mendlen Herman enrolled in Kansas State University's College of Veterinary Medicine where she received the Exotic Animal award for 2010 and a Veterinary Leadership Scholarship. She was also inducted into the Sigma Delta Honor Society, the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and the Society of Phi Zeta. In 2010, she graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She has also completed emergency and small animal internships at the California Veterinary Specialists.

Dr. Mendlen Herman's areas of special professional interest include internal medicine, ophthalmology, exotic and zoo animal medicine, and wildlife medicine. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, California Veterinary Medical Association and the San Diego County Veterinary Medical Association. She is accredited by the United States Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, or APHIS.

Dr. Mendlen Herman's interests include bird watching, jogging, dancing, and she is currently attempting piano lessons.

Danielle Stolmeier, DVM

Dr. Danielle Stolmeier is a San Diego native, born and raised in Vista, California. She started on her career path before high school ended by completing an internship at a local hospital in her senior year. Afterwards, she remained one of their veterinary assistants while attending Palomar College. Dr. Stolmeier transferred a couple of years later to Cal Poly Pomona, where she completed her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science – Pre-Veterinary Science from the College of Agriculture.

Dr. Stolmeier then attended Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine where she took a special interest in small animal medicine. She was later accepted into the Internship Program at California Veterinary Specialists and spent a year rotating in surgery and medicine between the Carlsbad and Murrieta locations. Dr. Stolmeier was also a primary doctor in the emergency service during that time.

Dr. Stolmeier is the proud pet parent of two cats and a bearded dragon. Her personal interests include running, biking, cooking, singing, and playing the guitar. Her professional interests include preventative medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, behavior, and weight management. Dr. Stolmeier is happy to be back in her hometown practicing medicine and serving the community where she grew up. Aviara Animal Health Center is very excited to have her as part of the team.
